I adore September and October, because it means FALL! Foliage, pumpkins, apple cider (donuts), camping, hiking, sweater weather – everything is ideal in fall. Tell me what you’re most excited for this fall season!
To kickstart September, I went to a winery over Labor Day weekend: Breaux Vineyards in Purcellville, Virginia. Breaux recently won a gold medal at the 2017 Virginia Governor’s Cup for their 2012 and 2014 Meritage. I got a bottle of the 2012 Meritage, and it is a fantastic red. It’s medium-bodied with notes of cherry and other red fruits like raspberries and finishes very cleanly. Excellent, highly recommended wine!
The grounds are beautiful here. A 400+ acre estate, Breaux overlooks the Blue Ridge and Short Hill Mountains. You can enjoy incredible vistas on their terrace, patio, and tasting room. It’s been voted as the “Favorite Winery in Virginia” for the last 4 years, and it’s completely family owned and operated.

It was a lot of fun trying out a new winery in Virginia. I’m looking forward to exploring a couple of others as the fall season continues.
What are some of your favorite wineries?
I love the wines at 8 Chains North in Waterford, and you can’t beat the view at Bluemont!
