matcha dalgona

By now, I’m sure everyone has seen the dalgona coffee craze. It’s a beverage of equal parts instant coffee, sugar, and water whipped into a creamy consistency that’s topped on milk. I’ve made this drink a couple of times and while I personally am not the biggest fan of it (a little too sugary for me), I can’t deny the caffeinated joy the process brings me. Because I love matcha, I decided my next recipe attempt was for matcha dalgona.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup whipping cream
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons matcha
  • Choice of milk

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, add cold whipping cream, sugar, and vanilla extract. Whip with a whisk or electric mixer until you start to see ribbons form. When you see soft ribbons, add matcha. Continue to whisk until it’s fluffy. Make sure not to overmix. Assemble and enjoy! Add ice, your choice of milk (I like oat), and top with the matcha mixture.

I also made a matcha latte dalgona, which is a matcha latte topped with dalgona coffee. One of my favorite brands is Ippodo Tea, which is what I used to make the matcha latte below.

Have you tried dalgona or matcha dalgona? Did you like it? Let me know in the comments!
