Have you ever tried ROYCE’ Chocolate? ROYCE’, a Japanese chocolate manufacturing company, was established in 1983. Their bestseller, the Nama chocolate, was born in 1995. Their Nama chocolates come in a variety of flavors, such as milk chocolate, matcha chocolate, champagne chocolate, whiskey chocolate, white chocolate, etc.
I’ve tried ROYCE’s matcha nama chocolate before, and it was delicious. However, it is a little on the pricey side at $18 for 20 pieces. Recently, I came across a recipe from Just One Cookbook for matcha nama chocolate. I decided to try it out and to my surprise, the recipe was incredibly easy!
- 14 oz of white chocolate
- 1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream
- 2 tbsp of unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp of matcha powder (+2 tsp or more for sprinkling)
- Line a 8″ x 8″ baking dish with parchment paper.
- If you’re using white chocolate bars, chop them into small pieces so they will melt faster. If you’re using white chocolate chips (which is what I did), there’s no need to chop them further.
- Cut the butter into smaller pieces.
- Add the heavy whipping cream into a saucepan and bring to an almost boil over medium heat. When you see bubbles, remove immediately from the heat.
- Add the white chocolate and butter into the saucepan. Mix together.
- Once the mixture is smooth, sift 2 tbsp of matcha powder into the mixture. Mix well again.
- Pour the mixture into the baking dish. Flatten with a spatula and tap the dish on the counter a few times to remove air bubbles.
- Place in fridge for 4-5 hours or overnight.
- Lift the parchment paper from the baking dish and place onto a cutting board. Run a knife under hot water and wipe completely dry.
- Slice the chocolate block into squares.
- Dust 2 tsp of matcha powder on top of the chocolate. Serve chilled and store the remaining chocolate in the fridge.
Only four ingredients, no baking, and it only takes 30 minutes to make! A wonderful treat to make for yourself, family, friends, or for entertaining guests!
